These events are part of the painting course. In the 2009 Spring Semester there will be the chance for a B.U. student to win a residency in the summer 2009 at the Citè des Arts, Paris, France and a solo show in a gallery space that has a long history of international programming and excellence (www.nuovaicona.org). The philosophy of the events is that students will be put in direct touch with their Italian contemporaries, the young resident artists who have their studios at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation (www.bevilacqualamasa.it).
Italian and European established personalities will come and introduce themselves so that students may benefit from their permanence in Venice through new ideas, personal contact and future references for their work. This edition of the events will include one curator from Palazzo Grassi, the director of the Gallery of Contemporary art of Monfalcone, the director of the artists’ residency program of La Citè Internationale des Arts in Paris.

The dates and places of Departures & Arrivalsi are

April 3rd at 8pm, Giudecca 801.

B.U. Studios: a Palazzo Grassi curator will introduce the work of an established artist of his/her choice.
Three B.U. students will have 10 minutes each to present their work.
Two Bevilacqua La Masa foundation young resident artists will have 10 minutes each to present their work.

April 22nd at 8pm, Giudecca 621.

Bevilacqua La Masa Ateliers: Andrea Bruciati, director of the Monfalcone Gallery for Contemporary art will introduce his work and the work of an established artist of his choice.
Three B.U. students will have 10 minutes each to present their work.
Two Bevilacqua La Masa foundation young resident artists will have 10 minutes each to present their work.

May 8th at 8pm, Giudecca 95.

Centro Culturale cz95 – Giudecca: Sidney Peyroles, director of the Citè Internationale des Arts, Paris, France and Emmanuelle Lavaud will talk about the network of artists residencies in Europe.
Final exhibition. Announcement of the winner of an artist residency at the Citè Internationale des Arts in Paris, France for the  Summer 2009.

Residency

At the end of each of the first two events, a jury composed of Italian professional artists will select a winner. The two selected artists will have a chance to exhibit their work during the third event and therefore compete to win the artist residency in Paris.

Another prize

Vittorio Urbani director of Venice based international gallery Nuova Icona, will select a winner who will have a site specific solo show in the exhibition space of the San Ludovico Oratory.
