The Academic Residency Program Partial Fellowship at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica provides the unique opportunity to grow as artists and develop a portfolio for a studio practice in one of the most established Art Programs in Italy.
Visual Arts students as well as Recent recipients of bachelor’s and master’s degrees will have the opportunity to attend a 1 to 3 month residency with accommodations in Venice. In addition, they will have access to our fully operational printmaking and artists’ book facilities, and the opportunity to draw inspiration from historic masterpieces to contemporary art which Venice has to offer.
The goal of the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica funding program is to ensure that Art students and graduates who have been accepted, can attend the Scuola with an affordable financial contribution to their experience.
In the Scuola residents will find one of the most reputed international Printshops, computer room and painting/drawing studio. Resident artists are given the keys to the Scuola and are welcome to use the facilites 7 days a week, from 9am to 10:30pm. Furthermore, resident artists will have the opportunity to participate in presentations & critiques, as well as collaborating on exhibition installations in our SG gallery in order to feel part of the Scuola community.
Partial Fellowship Fees
• 1 month: € 1,300.00
• 2 month: € 2,450.00
• 3 month: € 3,550.00
The program fees include use of facilities and housing. Resident artists are responsible for their meals and transportation.
We are glad to assist the accepted artists in the process of requesting funding from their home institution by providing them with a formal letter of acceptance in the program.
Accommodation is provided in the Scuola’s apartments in Campo San Maurizio, which is in the central historic area of Venice, a 5 minute walk from Piazza San Marco and the Accademia. The furnished apartments are equipped with kitchen, bathrooms with showers and laundry facilities. Based on availability and enrollment, Academic Residents may be assigned a shared bedroom with another artist of the same gender. Complimentary wireless DSL Internet connection is also provided.
Printmaking and Painting Facilities
Resident artists will work in our large, luminous, and fully equipped printshop with presses for all printmaking media. Additionally, a painting studio provides individual work spaces. Please note that our painting studio is not suited for oil paint. Painters are encouraged to apply for work projects based on other painting techniques.Resident artists have the opportunity to attend our classes and workshops at no additional cost.
Computer Room and Serigraphy
There are 20 iMacs in the computer room equipped with Adobe® CS5. Resident artists also have access to a serigraphy studio and machinery for photoetching.
Art supplies are available in shops as well as at the Scuola at a cost.
The program fees include use of facilities and housing. All resident artists are responsible for their meals. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants will be notified via email within 15 days from their application date.
Applications are ongoing and will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants must be currently studying Visual Arts at University level or have obtained a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree within 2 years of application.
