4th Artists International Print Project. Stephen Chambers
Venice, August 2005

The over seventy monotypes which resulted from an intense two weeks of working in Venice, combine an absorption of detail, (the gondolas, ticket booths and restaurant tables), with a deep sympathy for the traditions of the Italian Renaissance.
Revealing the artists ongoing concerns with immediate visceral sensations, the series provides a fascinating insight into how the artist creates the potential for multiple reading, through the layering of different kinds of visual information, (decorative pattern, figurative form and abstract space), into a single surface.
