Jenny Robinson’s work is a response to her immediate surroundings. Her arrival in Venice coincided with the completion of a print portfolio responding to the impact of rising global sea levels, and so landing on an island surrounded and often inundated, by water, was timely.
Entering the Scuola, the first thing one sees is the water of the canal, its changing colours and fluctuating tidal levels.
Embracing a more fluid approach to her work based on these surroundings Robinson has created a body of work during her residency which explores the shifting quality of water along with a large print which symbolically confronts its more destructive nature.
Jenny Robinson who is currently invited guest artist at the Scuola Internationale di Grafica was brought up in Borneo in the Far East, but studied for her BFA in Printmaking in the UK and is now living in San Francisco.
Since moving to the U.S.A. in 2001 she has exhibited notably with the International Print Center in New York, as well as being accepted into prestigious competitions around the world; won numerous awards and is a regular visiting Artists at Universities and regular Artist in Residence at the Kala Art Institute.
Represented by the Davidson Gallery in Seattle, Warnock Fine Arts in Palm Springs and the Kala Art Institute Gallery, Berkeley, CA.
Her work is in many Public and private collections, including the Library of Congress Graphic Arts Collection, Washington DC, The Achenbach Fine Print Collection, San Francisco , The Museum of fine Art Print Collection, Boston and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford UK.
Jennifer is member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE), London, The Los Angeles Printmaking Society (LAPS) and the Boston Printmakers.
