INSCRIPTION FEES– Upon acceptance in the Program all artists are requested to pay a € 250.00 inscription fee, which will go towards the payment of the Residency. This fee is not refundable.
LATE CANCELLATIONS – Artists who cancel 30 days prior to commencement of the Program will be requested to pay 50% of their Studio Residency fees.
FUNDING – We shall be glad to assist all artists in the process of requesting funding in their country by providing them with a formal letter of acceptance in the program.
ACCOMMODATION INFORMATION – Studio Residencies are offered without housing accommodation.
STUDIO FACILITIES – Resident artists work in our large, luminous, equipped printshop with presses for all printmaking media. Additionally, a painting studio provides individual work spaces. Please note that our painting studio is not suited for oil paint, nor for painting methods which may provoke strong smells or require use of toxic materials. Painters are encouraged to apply for work projects based on painting techniques that are compatible with a shared space.
LIFE AT THE SCUOLA – Resident artists have open access to the Scuola’s studio facilities. They are given keys to the Scuola and are welcome to use the facilites 7 days a week, from 9am to 10:30pm. Both artists and students enjoy participating in life at the Scuola through presentations and critiques. When in calendar, resident artists have the opportunity to attend our classes and workshops at no additional cost.
INTRODUCTION TO PRINTMAKING – Artists who are not experienced in Printmaking are requested to attend an introductory course in order to be able to work autonomously in the print workshop. This foundation 2 days course has an additional cost of €300.00.
COMPUTER ROOM AND SERIGRAPHY – The computer room is equipped with iMacs. As printers and scanners are not available we will direct you to a printing shop for good quality printouts. The computer room is free all day from June to September, and in October to May from 16:45. The Scuola’s premises are connected to the internet with wi-fi. Resident artists also have access to a serigraphy studio equipped with the frames, the squeegees and a exposure unit but we invited resident to independently purchase or send the materials as ink etc to print.
ART SUPPLIES – These Materials are available to everyone: Etching grounds, soft ground, alcohol, petroleum, detergents, gloves, bites (ferric chloride, copper solphate), lithography stones, black oil base ink for etching, lithography and typography black ink, proof paper and vellum paper. You are required to provide your own materials, including glue, acrylics, permanent markers, carborundum, tarlatan and brushes. Coloured inks, etching paper, copper, zinc and wood can be purchased from the Studio or in local stores. The equipment of the Scuola is valuable. Since everyone can use it, special care must be taken to return all such equipment where they belong. Things are never to be taken out of the Scuola. Each morning a staff member checks all the equipment, printing characters, inks, rollers, brushes. Books are to be returned to their place after you have consulted them and are never to be taken out of the Scuola.
SHIPPING GOODS TO ITALY – Shipping goods to Italy is a hazardous business, as customs may block them and request complicated paperwork. Shampoo, medicines, vitamines, health supplements will almost certainly be checked. The Scuola is unable to provide assistance in dealing with customs, therefore we strongly discourage all our resident artists from shipping items to Venice.

YOUR ART-WORK – All our resident artists are requested to donate a minimum of one art-work produced during their residency for the Scuola’s collection.
