Catherine Brooks presenterà una serie di immagini di stampe di artisti dell’Atelier René Tazé e di Crown Oint Press. Racconterà di come ha scoperto l’arte dell’Incisione e del percorso che l’ha condotta a lavorare presso una delle più importanti stamperie degli Stati Uniti. La presentazione sarà conclusa con esempi di come gli artisti di Crown Point hanno utilizzato il procedimento del ‘White Ground’ (Acuatinta al Sapone).
Dopo la presentazione l’artista eseguirà una dimostrazione della tecnica del ‘White Ground’ (Acuatinta al Sapone), illustrando il procedimendo ed offrendo agli studenti utili consigli sull’utilizzo dei materiali.

L’artista presenterà il proprio lavoro e parlerà del suo ruolo di stampatrice e di artista, e di come abbia trovato un equilibrio tra le due pratiche. Presenterà inoltre il suo ultimo progetto, che verrà completato durante la sua residenza alla Scuola Internazionale di Grafica. Al termine della presentazione Catherine risponderà alle domande dei partecipanti, ed offrirà suggerimenti riguardo ai metodi di registro nella stampa di matrici multiple.
Catherine Brooks è Master printer di Crown Point, e autrice di Magical Secrets about Line Etching and Engraving The Step-by-Step Art of Incised Lines. Dopo aver studiato incisione non-tossica presso l’Evergreen State College, nel 2001 Catherine è andata a Parigi per approfondire lo studio dei procedimenti tradizionali dell’Incisione presso l’Atelier René Tazé. Là ha individutao nell’Incisione stessa la sua vocazione.
Dopo essere ritornata negli Stati Uniti nel 2002 Catherin ha inziato a lavorare come stampatrice a a Crown Point Press, e nel 2005 è stata nominata Master Printer da Kathan Brown. Dalla pubblicazione del suo libro ha tenuto seminari e workshop in tutto il mondo, continuando nel contempo nelle proprie pratiche creative e dello yoga.

Master Printer, Catherine Brooks will present a short slideshow featuring the images of prints by artists from Atelier René Tazé and Crown Point Press. She will speak about how she discovered the craft of etching and that path that lead her to work at America’s premiere print publisher. Catherine will conclude the slide show with examples of how artists at Crown Point have used the aquatint process, White Ground. Following the lecture, Catherine will give a technical demonstration of White Ground, sharing the recipe and giving students some tips on how to use the material.

Catherine Brooks will give a slideshow of her own work and speak about the role of being an artist and printer, and how she found balance in both practices. She will also present her most recent project, a body of work completed at the Scuola Internazionale di Grafica.. After the slideshow, Catherine will answer questions and offer some general studio tips for multiple plate printing and plate registration.
Catherine Brooks is a Crown Point Press Master printer and author of Magical Secrets about Line Etching and Engraving The Step-by-Step Art of Incised Lines. After studying non-toxic intaglio processes at Evergreen State College, she went to Paris, France in 2001 to seek out traditional printmaking methods. During her apprenticeship at Atelier René Tazé, she found her métier in etching. Upon returning to the states in 2002, Catherine began working as a printer at Crown Point Press and was rewarded the title of Master Printer by Kathan Brown in 2005. Since the release of her book, Catherine has enjoyed teaching workshops around the globe and continues her own creative practices in painting and yoga.
