Helen Douglas: Libro d’Artista
Sabato 8 – Domenica 9 Marzo, 2008
March, Saturday 8 – Sunday 9, 2008

This Book Art seminar explores the book as a primary form for visual and tactile expression: as a place for visual narrative and poetry. How we recognize our narratives and discover their shape in the visual telling, in the book, is the fascination and reason for this seminar workshop.
Participants will be encouraged to consider their visual images in relation to the materiality of paper, page and book. The notion of series and how to develop a continuity of visual ideas as sequence, telling a story with images, or images and text, within the book as object is explored. This could involve working with the traditional codex form, the accordion format, or other folding structures to develop new ways of looking. This seminar is about construction and expressing a visual idea with book. Each student will be encouraged to think book, develop something different, either from scratch, learning new ways of gathering material for the book, or building upon existing work.
